General Description of Position

Temporary, part-time teaching opportunities in Nutrition for the 2017/18 academic year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach Nutrition and related courses and support program and departmental activities such as curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation. The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively and participate in program and departmental activities.

Education and Experience

Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Nutrition from a regionally accredited (or foreign equivalent) institution; ability to work collaboratively with others; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); and completion of a successful interview that may include a demonstration of skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Prior teaching experience; professional work experience in nutrition; working knowledge of up-to-date technologies that support teaching; and demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (http://www1.mansfield.edu/mansfield-creed) and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission. Preferred: PhD in Nutrition or related field; Registered Dietitian status; and experience with college teaching and student supervision.

Physical Activities and Environmental Conditions

Effective teaching and service to the department, university, and community.  Effective communication and use of electronic teaching technology.  Work cooperatively with staff, faculty and administration.  Ability to use software application programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and effective use of phone, keyboard and other office equipment.  May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, etc.

Other Conditions of Employment

Verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts, acceptable background clearance reports, authorization to be employed in the United States or the ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment, and positive references.

Compensation and Benefits

Temporary, part-time positions for the 2017/18 academic year, Instructor or Assistant Professor rank. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience.
