General Description of Position

This position is the lead loan administrator for the Office of Financial Aid.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer the Federal Direct Loan, Federal Direct PLUS Loan, Federal Perkins Loan and private student loan programs. Ensure timely and accurate loan disbursements and reconciliation, perform loan aggregate reviews, maintain regulatory knowledge and interpretation, evaluate loan processes for continual improvement, and prepare loan reports to monitor the processing cycle.
• Perform standard and customized report writing (Datatel and Excel).
• Process study abroad and financial aid consortium agreements.
• Package summer aid for all new and returning students.
• Package graduate and undergraduate students, including standard and borrow-based academic year loans.
• Provide financial aid counseling and presentations to students and parents; coordinate with the Admissions office on email messaging for new and prospective students.
• FA Liaison with Athletics; compliance of NCAA regulations.
• Serve as a lead worker in the department, providing directions and clarifications to fellow staff on assignments as needed.
• Ensure and actively contribute to a professional, compassionate, and customer-service oriented experience for students.
• Assist the Director with upgrading technologies to improve department performance.
• Identify problems and provide resolution of student aid issues.
• Promote a friendly and caring atmosphere, represent the university in a professional manner, and provide quality customer service to students, parents and the community.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience administering the federal loan program.

• Ability to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently
• Ability to collaborate effectively with others and establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Expertise in working with a wide variety of constituent groups including students, parents, staff, faculty, colleagues, and the community
• Effective computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
